Drumming Circle

Why We Drum

Recently science verified what most of us have known for years-the Earth vibrates- The vibrations of Grandmother Earth are matched when we drum.

When we drum we join together-the parts become a Whole-We become One with Grandmother Earth.

This unity of purpose is a way to synchronize our hearts, energies and intentions. This unity supports ritual, community, healing and wholeness.

We drum to heal, to create community, to practice ritual and to unite our strength with that of Grandmother Earth.

How We Drum

Our drumming circle drums with intention. Intention is created when we approach Spirit with truth and expectation. Our expectations are for clarity of personal intentions; healing for ourselves and others; for the children; in joy, and for peace.

Our drumming circle drums together...we drum with a freedom that units us in rhythm-flowing together, drifting apart..but at all times...united by a common beat.

Our beat is underlying...we do not drum for ecstasy, nor in anger, nor in abandon.

We acknowledge that our drums are living beings and as much are owed gentleness and respect.

While drumming we recognize the need to sing, tone, dance, whistle and pray. We also use didgeridoos, finger harps, violins, rain sticks, flutes, etc.

Selecting Your Drum

Finding the right drum is a spiritual adventure. Perhaps your drum is a gift from a loved one(s): or perhaps you have made your drum with your own hands; or perhaps, you bought your drum from a store. However your drum has come into your possession, know that it has found you. The relationship between you and your drum is personal. No one type of drum is better, more spiritual or more authentic than another.

Your drum, even if it is a borrowed drum, is in your hands because Spirit has called you and it to be together. Drums will have varying tones, designs, shapes and be made of differing materials. Your drum is your connection to Spirit and the Mother Earth.

Karen will be starting a Journey/Drumming Circle after the first of the year. It will be meeting on Sunday mornings . Location to be determined. Check back often for more information.
